What is the working principle of ball mill

Ball mill is the necessary grinding equipment for mineral processing plant, mainly as the grinding operation before the selection, equipped with classification equipment for grinding and grading, to complete the mineral sharpening of the selection. There are many kinds of ball mill equipment, and the working principle of each type of ball mill equipment is roughly the same, but there are also some subtle differences.

Internal structure of ball mill.

Ball mill accessories include liner plate, steel ball, gear, compartment plate, etc. The liner plate and steel ball are important wearing parts of the ball mill, the internal device has corrugated liner plate and flat liner plate, which can play a better grinding aid and body protection, the steel ball is the main grinding part of the ball mill, made of composite wear-resistant material, and the steel ball needs to be picked and replaced regularly during the subsequent use to ensure the grinding efficiency.

Working principle of ball mill.

According to the different types of ball mills, their working principles are also different, mainly introducing the following 3 types.

(1) Overflow ball mill
With the rotation of the cylinder and the movement of the grinding medium, the ore and other materials will gradually spread to the right after crushing, and finally overflow from the hollow journal on the right, hence the name.

(2) Lattice Ball Mill
The lattice ball mill is equipped with lattice plate at the discharge end, consisting of several fan-shaped hole plates, the width of the grate holes is 7mm-20mm, the ore enters the space between the lattice plate and the end cover through the grate holes, then the material is lifted upward by the lifting plate, the material slides down with the lifting plate, then passes through the conical block and discharges to the right to the hollow shaft neck.

(3) Horizontal ball mill
Cylindrical rotating device, outer gear drive, two bins, lattice type ball mill. The material enters the first bin of the mill evenly by the feeding device through the feeding hollow shaft spiral, which has ladder lining plate or corrugated lining plate and contains steel balls of different specifications, and the centrifugal force generated by the cylinder rotation brings the steel balls to a certain height and then falls down to produce heavy impact and grinding effect on the material. After the material reaches coarse grinding in the first bin, it enters the second bin through the single-layer partition plate, which is set with flat liner and contains steel balls to grind the material further. The powder is discharged through the discharge grate plate to complete the grinding operation.

The ball mill is the key equipment for grinding after the material is crushed. It can dry or wet grind various ores and other grindable materials, such as steel slag, white ash, gold ore, aluminum powder, quartz sand, aluminum powder paste, hematite, high alumina porcelain, iron concentrate, fluorite ore, barite, coal mud, pottery sand, etc. are all grindable materials.
